Get Started with Capacity Planning in AIZOPlan
This article explains How AIZOPlan Implements Capacity Planning in the Capacity Management Studio
Overview
Capacity planning in AIZOPlan is structured into three core sections.
- Resource Configuration
- Resource Allocation
- Capacity Planning DashBoard
All setup and tracking are managed through the Capacity Management Studio, available at the Program level.
Resource Configuration
This is the foundation of capacity planning, where you define and structure your available resources across people and materials.
The four steps include:
- Define Resource Categories
Add and classify your resources as People or Material, ensuring accurate segmentation.
- Set Skills
Add the technical and functional competencies associated with human resources for skill-based planning and allocation. - Add People Resources
Create individual resource profiles, including Department,Role, internal or external status,Contract type (full-time/part-time), Cost and billing rates.
Note: To set roles, they must first be created in the Hierarchy Management section by an AIZOPlan administrator.
- Configure Calendars
Define standard working days and leave periods for each resource.

Resource Allocation
AIZOPlan uses points as a relative unit to estimate effort, complexity, or time to complete a task or workstream.
The Capacity Management Studio allows you to allocate both billable and non-billable effort per resource using these point-based estimates
-
Assign Billable Workload
The Project Implementation Plan defines workstreams with estimated points, representing the total effort required to fully deliver each workstream.
Projects follow a sprint-based cadence, and it is recommended to allocate resources at the end of each sprint for precise tracking and reporting.
Use the Capacity Management Studio to distribute billable workload in points across project workstreams during a sprint—capturing the actual contribution of each resource.
-
Allocate Non-Billable Effort
Use the Capacity Management Studio to Assign a portion of each resource’s daily capacity in points to non-billable activities such as Training, Internal meetings, Support tasks
it is recommended to allocate Non Billable effort at the end of each sprint for more accurate view of actual availability and prevents overallocation.

Capacity Planning Dashboard
The Capacity Management Studio includes real-time dashboards that give a complete view of resource usage, effort distribution, and financial tracking.
Available dashboards include:
-
Resource Utilization Dashboard
Displays how much of each resource’s capacity is being used. It helps identify whether resources are balanced, underutilized, or overallocated. -
Workload Overview Dashboard
Summarizes how time is allocated across resources for each project, providing visibility into who is working on what and for how long. - Budget Overview Dashboard
Visualizes how resource costs are distributed across projects, helping track project spending.
